I purchased the Body Glove hard case with my HTC Incredible and have used it for about 6 weeks. It provides great protection, stays securely on the phone, and feels good in your hand. The major design flaw is that the edges are raised so high around the screen that you cannot type certain letters very easily. In fact it is infuriating when trying to hit the search button or the p, delete, q or uppercase buttons.
In looking for a different case, I first wanted one that had a very low lip around the screen area, and then I wanted a pretty tough case because I can treat a phone pretty rough in my business.
The Seidio Innocase Active seemed to fit the bill, so I ordered the black version (there are other colors coming late in July or early August but I needed something now).
I am more than happy with the Innocase Active. First of all, it fits perfectly. Seidio cases have always been well made and this case is no different. The neoprene inner liner form fits the Incredible very well. A nice touch is that the volume and power buttons are completely covered/sealed with a raised rubber area that keeps dirt and water out of these two switches. Toggling the volume up and down and turning the phone off and on is easy and requires only slightly more effort than it does without the case on the phone.
The exoskeleton outer cover also fits well and keeps the neoprene liner completely in contact with the phone. No bubbles of neoprene moving around like a single piece neoprene cover sometimes does. The protection is somewhere between a thin hard case and an Otterbox case which is much thicker and heavier.
The real advantage over the Body Glove hard case is that the lip around the screen is just barely above the level of the screen itself. It is like having a new phone – texting is effortless, it is more comfortable to hold against my ear and overall it looks better, preserving much of the thin form factor that is so much a part of the appeal of the Incredible. In fact, I like it better than the phone with no case. It fits my hands better and is easier for me to hold.
I purchased the Seidio Innocase Active Spring Clip Swivel Holster (a mouthful) as I wear my phone on my belt when at work, and it is a recommended accessory. The phone goes into the clip face first so it is well protected from bumps and bangs. The clip mechanism rubs against the power button slightly when clipping it in and out, but we will see if it wears the neoprene out over time.
One negative is the price – the case and clip with shipping was about $60. I know this seems ludicrous after paying for the phone, but this case is well designed and well made and you can’t say that about a lot of cases no matter what the price. It is definitely head and shoulders above the normal $20-30 cases out there.
Overall, highly recommended. I have iphone envy no more.
